It's such a shame that Oscar regulars Peter Jackson and They Owe Me Watts beat Lee to the punch.

Judging by the above promotional still, Lee's version, starring Paulini as Ann Darrow, would have lent audiences a much deeper and more immediate understanding of the attraction shared by Darrow and Kong.
